The latest in Flash peer-to-peer technology

Chatroulette Clone is an Adobe Flash application, developed entirely with Adobe Flex.

Adobe Flex is an open source SDK and framework, created by Adobe to provide developers with a more approachable environment to build desktop like Adobe Flash and Adobe Air applications.

Chatroulette Clone does not require any specific server technology. It neither relies on Adobe’s media streaming servers.

Instead, Chatroulette Clone uses a lightweight backend service for handling sessions. The package includes a sample implementation that is ready to run out-of-the-box.

The audio/video data is streamed between two connected users directly, leveraging the latest peer-to-peer functionality available in Flash Player 10.

What YOU need

We have included everything for a Quick Start setup, all you need is

•    a text editor
•    an FTP client
•    A webserver running PHP 5
•    A MySQL database
•    A free Adobe Stratus API key

You can modify every text of the user interface in a single XML file. Upload it to your server. Chatroulette Clone will immediately pick up your customized labels, messages and ads.

Technologies you would need to recompile the Flash movie:

•    Adobe Flash Builder 4 (trial will do)

Note: Adobe Flex is an open source, free framework. You can compile Chatroulette Clone by only using the free, open source tools. However, we highly recommend to use Adobe’s Flash Builder 4 which provides advanced visual editing tools and an Integrated Development Environment.
